Verizon pays ABC $400,000 for 13 "Lost" mobisodes; writers get $800/show

Verizon Wireless is paying ABC about $400,000 for 13 made-for-cellular episodes of the hit television show "Lost," according to the October 1, 2006 article in The New York Times.

The two writers (who do a lot more than just write), Damon Lindelof and Carlton Cuse, will each receive a minimum of $800 per mobisode, the article says.  Actors performing in the cellular shows will receive at least $425 per show, and additional payments if the shows are reused for any other medium.

Touchstone Television, that produces "Lost," this spring signed the first-of-its-kind deal with Hollywood's TV guilds that allows their members to work on the mobisodes.  Lindelof and Cuse urged Touchstone to work out a deal, the article says.

The New York Times article reports on the multiple products/spinoffs generated by "Lost."
