Digita in Finland has announced a DVB-H mobile television network but there aren't any handsets or programs, according to a Reuters report.
Handset manufacturers are waiting for mobile TV programs to be available before selling any phones and the programs aren't going to be available until 2007, the article says. In addition, "Finnish broadcasters at the same time are in talks with copyright organisations on future copyright fees, holding back programmes," Reuters says.
The article says the mobile TV network more than 25 percent of Finland.
"Excited by the prospects of a possible new cash cow, the mobile and broadcast industries are in a hurry to launch paid-for commercial mobile TV services at a time when phone companies face declining revenues from voice services due to fierce competition and new regulations," Reuters writes.
