Sprint has issued a second press release today promoting its efforts in mobile television in anticipation of Verizon Wireless' announcement about its Qualcomm-based MediaFLO mobile TV network this afternoon at the Consumer Electronics Show.
Sprint says, "...[P]lease note that Sprint has conducted a limited trial of Qualcomm’s MediaFLO technology that began in 2006. The trial service has been branded as VUE.
"No other details have been made available, but the trial is expected to conclude by the end of January 2007.
"Sprint has no immediate plans to deploy the MediaFLO service, but we will continue to evaluate it as a potential service for the future. "
Sprint's first press release highlighted the company's past mobile TV efforts and briefly discussed the future, as I wrote early this morning.
