A new poll by Zogby -- that was sponsored by Ericsson's Redback Networks -- says 64 percent of adults would subscribe to mobile television to entertain their children in automobiles.
I suspect that 64 percent of parents -- if not more -- would subscribe to just about anything to keep their children occupied while the parents are driving!
Zogby surveyed 1,006 Americans to ask "how they use broadband services, Internet-connected mobile devices and what video and mobile services they would pay for in the future."
The poll also says 88 percent of respondents believe cellular video telephony will be a reality within five years and 74 percent say a "video-centric Internet may be more dangerous for kids."
Believe what you want
Alan Lippman, the chief video architect at Redback, says in the press release, "These findings help illustrate how people use broadband and mobile devices today and what they anticipate doing in the future.
"This poll makes it quite easy to imagine a world where all TV and movie content is portable and two billion cell users become 2 billion TVs or 2 billion TV broadcasters."
There are other responses, but my view of such polls is they often benefit the companies sponsoring them more than executives who need to build their businesses based on highly reliable, detailed information. In other words, I trust most polls as far as I can throw them....with a 500-pound weight attached.
