Iran is testing mobile television with the DVB-H protocol with the Madrid-based digital video platform company SIDSA, according to an item on TMCnet.com.
The country’s national broadcasting company, the Islamic Republic of Iran Broadcasting (IRIB), is spearheading the tests that are beginning in Tehran but will eventually cover the entire country, the article says. Iran plans to transmit 16 channels from Intelsat and Eutelsat to DVB-H cellular phones from Sagem.
“The channels are IRIB1 PER, IRIB 2 PER, IRINN, AL-Alam, IRIB, IRIB Quran and Press TV, from Eutelsat (Hot Bird), and IRIB TV1, IRIB TV 2, IRIB TV3, IRIB TV4, IRIB TV 5, IRIB 3, IRIB Amouzesh TV, Azarbayejan TV, Fars TV and Khalij Fars TV from Intelsat satellites,” TMCnet.com says.
The article notes that SIDSA also has provided equipment for mobile TV in Russia and tests in Seville.
