If you’re a fan of science fiction and online videos, you should check out “Afterworld,” a two– to three-minute episodic online animated series (see below) that is available over cellular…but not yet over cellular in the United States.
However, the series is available online in the U.S. on BudTV — that has the latest episodes. It’s probably the easiest way to view because all the available episodes are there. The main “Afterworld” Web has fewer episodes — because of an agreement with BudTV — but the “Afterworld” site has more features, such as the main character’s “journal.”
I wrote a detailed article about “Afterworld” on “Mobi-lize,” including an interview with Brent Friedman, the creator, writer and producer of the series. Sony Pictures Television International is distributing the series, that has received millions of hits and viewers.
The most successful effort is in Australia, where “Afterworld” is available on the SciFi Channel and via Telstra Mobile’s video service. But Sony’s goal is to offer the series around the world and in multiple formats, ranging from cellular and the Web to DVDs and games.
There are many more details in my “Mobi-lize” article.
