The global market for mobile television will increase from $1.7 billion in 2007 to $11.9 billion in 2012, according to “Mobile Entertainment Markets: Opportunities & Forecasts (Second edition) 2007-2012,” a report from Juniper Research, the company’s press release says.
The total worldwide wireless entertainment market — music, games and mobile TV — will increase from slightly more than $20 billion in 2007 to more than $64 billion by 2012, the report says. Mobile music will continue to generate the most wireless entertainment revenues, from almost $9 billion in 2007 to $17.5 billion in 2012.
Mobile music’s revenues will be sparked by more full-track downloads and streaming services. Mobile games will rank number two, with revenues increasing from slightly less than $5 billion in 2007 to almost $16 billion in 2012.
The report notes that China and the Far East will continue to be the largest market for mobile entertainment. Revenues will increase from $8.5 billion in 2007 to almost $21.3 billion in 2012.
