Several years ago, when mobile television and mobile videos were just beginning, a variety of companies were established to produce original cellular phone episodes. Some of the programs have been excellent, and the article lists a number of good content producers and programs.
However, it has been difficult for many companies to establish a profitable business by selling cellular programs. As a result, many of today’s cellular videos are simply regular shows that are reformatted for cellular, the article says.
It’s not all bad news, though. For example, MTV and Fun Little Movies (see below) are producing high quality cellular-specific videos, according to Mobile Entertainment.
Cellular videos on the Web
I’ve found many programs produced for cellular phones also are available for viewing on the Web, such as Fun Little Movies. Also, many of the contests/festivals that award prizes for cellular videos post the submissions and award-winners on the Web.
