QuickPlay Media says that based on statistics this year from 15 of its services from January 1 to March 31, the total of live television and video streams increased 61 percent from the fourth quarter of 2008 to the first quarter of 2009. During the same period, the number of unique viewers increased 11 percent.
However, the average number of streams per user decreased from 17.4 percent in the fourth quarter of 2008 to 15.7 percent in the first quarter of 2009.
For video downloads, the number increased three percent from the fourth quarter of 2008 to the first quarter of 2009. The average download per user increased from 6.1 percent in the fourth quarter to 6.3 percent in the first quarter.
The most popular category for video streaming was news, followed by sports, the company says.
PrimeTime2Go launch
A week ago QuickPlay announced the availability of a Wi-Fi-based mobile TV service, PrimeTime2Go, for the BlackBerry Bold and Curve 8900. As I wrote, I have both devices, but I couldn’t find the service on BlackBerry App World, the exclusive distributor, unfortunately, for PrimeTime2Go.
As of today, PrimeTime2Go still hasn’t shown up on App World — at least using my T-Mobile SIM.
