Mari Silbey, a tech blogger for Motorola, also blogs in Zatz Not Funny that we’re already in the era of mobile television, although we might not consider it as such.
Silbey writes how her three-year-old daughter was kept amused viewing TV programs and movies stored in an old iPod while waiting in line to see various attractions at Disney’s Magic Kingdom (see left).
“Obviously nothing was live, but it was still mobile TV to her, and far more entertaining than the snowy pictures of my old portable sets. We’ve truly entered the era of mobile TV, whether it’s as we envisioned or not,” Silbey writes.
That’s exactly what I’ve been writing about. Humans love to watch TV and movies, and regardless of what it’s called and regardless of the technological and business challenges today, eventually “mobile TV” will be standard for cellular subscribers.
