    I have been analyzing wireless communications for 31 years. I am president of Wireless Internet & Mobile Computing, a pioneering consulting firm that helps create new and enhance existing wireless data businesses in the United States and abroad.

    I write a weekly column for www.InternetEvolution.com about the wireless and wired Internet as well as writing a mobile blog and producing videos.

    Previously, I created the world's first wireless data newsletter, wireless data conference, cellular conference and FM radio subcarrier newsletter. I was instrumental in creating and developing the world's first cellular magazine.

    I also helped create and run the first association in the U.S. for the paging and mobile telephone industries.

    LIN TV, News Over Wireless develop BlackBerry mobile TV software

    LIN TV in conjunction with Capitol Broadcasting’s News Over Wireless is offering mobile TV software for BlackBerry phones, LIN says (pdf file).

    LIN operates 27 television stations and released BlackBerry software on August 7 that was customized for six of the stations: WISH, WAVY, KRQE, WANE, WALA and KXAN (see below).  LIN also offers iPhone applications.

    New Over Wireless has been a pioneer in developing platform and client software for mobile television, and I’ve written about the company several times.

    Mobile TV might have many detractors, but there certainly are a variety of ways to obtain it in the United States — from cellular operators, directly from content providers and from TV stations.
